Our recommendations for

better profits

or more enjoyment of your cannas

Cannas  are  semi-tropical  plants and prefer  a warm fertile  place to start  their beautiful  life.

We recommend a good potting medium that has no woodchips or bark and a temperature of 70

degrees or above in the greenhouse.

We realize that  costs have increased and  several growers  have  tried to lower  temperatures

and potting mix requirements to save money.   Cannas  grow on heat units, available nutrients,

and day lengths.  When temperatures are lower it  just  takes  longer  to  get the  same  results

therefore  increasing  cost,  and  running the  risk  of  a  diseased  plant.  Many  foliar  disease

symptoms  can  be  minimized  with  warmer   temperatures,  proper  nutrient  availability  and

increased periods of photosynthesis.

Once the cannas have had a good start in the greenhouse or planted outdoors when temperatures

are a bit warmer, they  will grow  well even if the night temperatures dip lower.

If possible, place cannas in your warmest greenhouse or dedicate one greenhouse just to cannas.

You will see a remarkable difference in their appearance and growth.
